The Knights raced with tough competition at the WCJC Invitational, hosted by Benton Central. Continuing to achieve new personal bests late in the season, when you're at the peak of your powers becomes ever more challenging. Our harriers continue to deliver. Of the 11 Knights that raced, 7 achieved new PRs, 2 just a couple seconds off PR. In the boys race, Pat Seeley hung with the race leaders, executed an excellent sprint for the finish in the last 400m, securing a 2nd place finish in the event. With that powerful performance, he set the bar a little higher, with a new PR of 10:48. The second Knight across the line, veteran Andrew Thiel pushed the pace finishing in 12:28. Andrew Miller, a rookie no more, continues to turn in ever more power performances. The third Knight across the line, he finished with a new PR of 12:45. In close pursuit, Zach Kerr executed well, finishing in 12:47, just 7 sec off PR. Another big day for Micah Worster, continuing to find new levels of capability. Finishing 5th for the Knights, he set a new PR of 13:20. Eighth grader Jeremy Sison wasn't about to leave his JH XC career behind without setting at least one more PR. He executed nicely and earned a new PR performance of 13:36. Superb running guys! Katie Brown and Maria Penn continue to lead the way for the Knights. In the girls race, they ran a super race, pushing each other to new PRs, Brown with a 13:48, Penn with a 13:49. Gianna Starr, another one of our rookies-no more, ran strong and brought home a new PR, finishing in 17:19. We continue to be proud of their dedication and passion, all the way to the end of the season. None of them are taking their foot off the gas! Our season culminates at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course in Terre Haute next Saturday 4 October, as our harriers head to the Indiana Middle School Cross Country Championships.
