Strong Pitching and Defense Carry Knights to Sweep

Lafayette Central Catholic (21-5) got two strong pitching performances to sweep Logansport and Peru on Saturday. In the opener, Jonah Gerkey scattered five hits in a complete game performance to beat Logansport (15-13) by the score of 4-1. Jackson Cain had a pair of hits including a two run single in the third inning. In the second game, Vince Telenko pitched a three hit shutout in the Knights 5-0 win over Peru (14-9). Mikey Stapleton had two hits, scored twice and drove in two. The Knights finish the regular season with a 21-5 record which marks the 23rd consecutive season of 20 or more wins. LCC opens up the postseason on Wednesday vs. Rensselaer at Gordon Leming Field.
