Lafayette Central Catholic (9-3, 5-2) outslugged Rensselaer (6-7, 1-4) Monday night to win 17-15. Hudson Gutwein clubbed a pair of home runs, doubled and scored four times to lead the Knights. Lucas Gerkey and Jackson Cain each homered and had a pair of hits. Mikey Stapleton and Vince Telenko each contributed a pair of hits as well. Alex Schummer earned the victory with 2 2/3 innings of relief, striking out five and allowing two unearned runs. D.J. Gilkey recorded the last four outs - including three strikeouts - to pick up the save on a windy night in Rensselaer.
