Lafayette Central Catholic defeated Twin Lakes 6-3 in the Hoosier Conference opener for both teams Tuesday night in Monticello. The Knights jumped on the board in the top of the first inning with five runs. Lucas Gerkey and Alex Schummer clubbed back to back doubles to lead off the game. Schummer, Mikey Stapleton and Brennan VanKirk each had two hits to pace the offense. Gerkey (2-0) scattered four hits, walked one and fanned 8 Indians to pick up his second win of the season. Both teams will meet again on Wednesday at Gordon Leming Field.
